Napoleon’s dream

My art work is about Napoleon Bonaparte. He’s on his way to heaven. When Napoleon was alive he wanted to take over the world. When he’s dead he still want to control the world but that can only be a dream for him to bring to heaven.

The style of my image was surrealism. Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur.

The original artist was Jacques-Louis David. He was a highly influential French painter in the Neoclassical style.

The original art work was Napoleon Crossing the Alps. Initially commissioned by the Spanish Ambassador to France, the composition shows a strongly idealized view of the real crossing that Napoleon and his army made across the Alps through the Great St. Bernard Pass in May 1800.

I mixed a picture of sky and a picture of steps together. Then I used magnetic lasso tool to take out the Napoleon and put the napoleon on the steps. It looks like He’s on his way to heaven. Finally I put a globe on top of Napoleon’s finger. It looks like the world is under napoleon’s control, but that can only be a dream.

The globe on Napoleon’s finger is exactly how he wanted the world. I like your surrealist artwork.
